Unexpected, amazing, and as Down East Magazine raves, "You might feel like you've stepped out of the Maine woods and into your favorite bistro."
Chanterelle's at the River Driver's Pub now located at Twin Pine Camps, overlooking Millinocket Lake and Maine highest peak, Katahdin.
To highlight both our water and woods nature, New England Outdoor Center, is excited to
offer guests a choice of dining experiences at our new Twin Pine's restaurant, the River
Driver's pub or Chanterelle's. The River Driver's restaurant has long served us as a fine
dining option for guests in the North Woods but with the construction of our new facility,
the River Driver's is taking on its next adventure, a pub. An exciting, vibrant atmosphere
and good food are the key elements of our River Driver's Pub. Chanterelle's, our new dining
option will compliment the high spirits of our pub with a relaxed, intimate setting attuned
to the needs of those guests seeking a more refined dining experience.
You will find our menu to be universal however, serving quality American fare highlighted
by seasonal, local, and fresh ingredients.
To help you and your taste buds decide, we're proud to offer outstanding customer service from our friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. We also offer an extensive wine list and a full-service bar.

Chanterelles are a wild mushroom which can be foraged right here in our own back yard. Golden in color, these mushrooms have a telltale aroma of apricots. Sautéed in butter or cream or both you cannot go astray with these forest delights. Curious to learn more about mushrooms, ask owner Matt Polstein to enlighten you on the art of mushroom foraging...but keep in mind, "There are old mushroomers, there are bold mushroomers but there are no old, bold mushroomers!"
The name River Drivers comes from the old days when logs were transported down the river by "river drivers," who were the men who guided the logs along the waterways. Today, Maine whitewater rafting adventures have replaced the river drives and more upscale fare has replaced the rustic stews that were made in the logging camps.
